Types of Kuwait Visa

There are different types of Kuwaiti visas that Indians can apply for. 

  1. Tourist Visa - This visa can be availed only for the purpose for tourism which includes sightseeing, vacationing, recreational activities, etc.
  2. Visit Visa - This visa allows a stay of up to 30 days after entry and is valid for 90 days. It takes the Kuwait Embassy at least a week to process this visa. The visitor has to be sponsored by a Kuwaiti Company or Resident or a Resident foreigner (relative of the visitor). Indians can avail this visa from the Kuwait Embassy in India or through the office of Kuwait Airways. Visitors who are related to a resident foreigner can get a visit visa by submitting the application form, security form from the resident foreigner, passport copy, sponsor's passport and civil ID along with copies of the same, sponsor's salary certificate and relationship proof.
  3. Work Visa/Permit - Indians who wish to work in Kuwait have to apply for a work visa/permit. A person cannot work in Kuwait using a visit visa. Work visa in the country is issued under Article 17 and 18 of the immigration regulations of Kuwait. To get this visa, the employer has to submit a copy of the employee's passport to get a work permit from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour Affairs. An NOC has to be obtained by the employer from the General Administration of Criminal Investigation by submitting the personal details of the employee. After getting the NOC and work permit from the employer, employees have to apply for an entry visa and provide documents such as PCC (Police Clearance Certificate), good conduct certificate, medical certificate, passport, education certificates, etc. In Kuwait, employees have to submit their fingerprints to get security clearance.
  4. Transit Visa - This visa is valid for seven days and can be availed from the Kuwaiti Consulate office or from a Kuwait Port Authority. To get this visa, applicants must have a confirmed onward ticket and visa to the next destination.

Eligibility for Kuwait Visa for Indian Citizens

It is very important for you to fulfill the eligibility criteria in order to obtain a Kuwait visa. Given below are some of the common requirements that you must follow: 

  1. Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the date you plan to leave Kuwait.

How to Apply for a Kuwait Visa from India

For applying Kuwait Visa, you need to visit the official website of the Kuwait Embassy or Consulate in India and follow the given below steps: 

  • You need to collect the visa application form either from the Kuwait Embassy or from the Consulate in India. You can also download the form through the website of the embassy. 
  •  After getting the form, you will have to fill in the form correctly and make sure that the details match with your passport. 
  •  Provide all necessary documents such as your passport, passport-sized photo, medical certificate, proof of funds and other supported documents. 
  • Once you have attached the documents and completed the form, you need to find an authorised agent either from private or public sector companies to submit the visa application. 
  • You need to pay the visa application fees via a demand draft or cash and you need to wait for your visa processing.  
  • You will get informed about your visa application and if it is approved, you can collect it from the embassy or consulate. 

How to Track the Status of Kuwait Visa

Strict Passport Photo Rules Implemented by Indian Embassy in Kuwait

To improve passport security and identification, the Indian Embassy in Kuwait has announced new guidelines for passport application photographs. Starting from September 2025, the photo must meet international aviation standards. The embassy has mentioned that any edited or altered photos with filters will not be accepted. The photo must be in colour, with a size of 630 x 810 pixels. The background should be plain white, and the head should cover around 80 to 85% of the image. The face should clearly show from the front, and the eyes should not clearly visible, without any glare or red eye. Head coverings are allowed only for religious reasons.
