Israel Launches E-Visa System for Indian Travellers

The Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) has introduced a digital e-visa system for Indian travellers, effective 1 January 2025. Currently available exclusively to Indian citizens with domestic residency, the initiative aligns with Israel's strategy to strengthen tourism ties with India, a key and growing international market. The e-visa system allows Indian tourists to complete their visa application process entirely online, offering a streamlined and user-friendly experience. Applicants can access the platform at any time and from any location, enjoying simplified documentation requirements and quick processing. Integrated with Israel's Entry Travel Authorisation (ETA), the system ensures a secure and hassle-free entry for individual tourists. Group applications will continue through existing channels.

The official portal, Israel Entry, provides detailed guidance on application steps, required documents, and fees.  To apply for an e-visa to Israel, applicants must meet several key requirements. A valid passport is essential, with its validity extending until the departure date from Israel. Additionally, a recent passport-sized photograph is required. Proof of round-trip flight reservations must be submitted, along with documentation of accommodation, such as a hotel booking or an invitation letter from a host residing in Israel. Applicants must also provide evidence of travel health insurance covering their stay in the country. Finally, proof of financial means, such as bank statements or other financial documents, is necessary to demonstrate the ability to support the trip. The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced ‘e-student visa’ and ‘e-student-x visa’ for foreign students

The Ministry of Home Affairs has launched two new visa categories – the e-student visa and e-student-x visa – to simplify the admission process for international students seeking education in Indian institutions. These initiatives align with the Ministry of Education’s ‘Study in India’ (SII) program, which connects foreign students to over 600 partner institutions offering more than 8,000 courses. Students must register on the SII portal, secure an admission offer from a listed institute, and apply for a visa through the Indian visa website using their unique SII ID for verification.

The e-student visa supports enrolment in undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and certificate programs, valid for up to five years and extendable within India. Dependents are eligible for the e-student-x visa. These visas enable entry through designated immigration posts and offer opportunities in diverse disciplines, such as arts, engineering, and Yoga. The SII portal ensures a transparent, streamlined process for global learners.
