Odisha Government Extends e-KYC Deadline for NFSA Ration Card Beneficiaries

The Odisha government has extended the deadline for completing the e-KYC process for National Food Security Act (NFSA) ration card beneficiaries to 31 January 2025. Initially set to end on 15 January 2025, the extension aims to provide more time for eligible individuals to comply, according to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra. While 85% of eligible beneficiaries have already completed their e-KYC, over 50 lakh individuals are yet to initiate the process. Beneficiaries under the food security scheme are urged to complete their e-KYC at local Electronic Public Service (EPS) outlets or ration distribution centres to ensure uninterrupted access to benefits. Following the e-KYC completion, new ration cards will be issued to all eligible Public Distribution System (PDS) beneficiaries, including those who apply in the future. To support the process, government officials have been directed to assist beneficiaries within the state and Odia residents living in other parts of the country. Officials recently completed e-KYC for Odia residents in Goa as part of this outreach.
