The Khadya Sathi scheme was launched by the West Bengal government on 27 January 2016 with the aim to provide subsidised wheat and rice to those in need. This program was launched to ensure food security for the economically weaker sections (EWS) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, covering approximately 90% of the state's population.
The motto of the scheme is ‘Food for All’, striving to provide access to essential food supplies at highly subsidised rates to every ration cardholder in the state, thereby improving the quality of life for the underprivileged. By establishing a methodical food mechanism, the plan aims to provide the state's ration card holders with uniform food distribution. Read on to know more about this plan.
