Steps to generate Bank of India (BOI) ATM Pin

Bank of India offers its customers various methods to generate ATM PIN through online and offline services. The customers can generate, change or reset their Bank of India ATM PIN with easy and convenient steps.

What is Green Pin?

The 'Green PIN' service allows for instant PIN generation or regeneration for Debit Cards through an ATM, using a One Time Password (OTP) sent to the customer's registered mobile number. Customers can set their debit card PIN at any Bank of India ATM using this OTP.

Process for Generating Green PIN (Debit Card PIN) Using Bank of India ATM

Green PIN can be generated in the following cases:

  1. When a new debit card is issued to the customer by the branch.
  1. When the customer forgets the PIN and needs to regenerate it for their existing card.

Steps:

  1. Insert and remove the Debit Card at any Bank of India ATM.
  1. Select your preferred language.
  1. Two options will appear:
    1. 'Enter PIN'
    2.  '(Forgot/Create PIN) Green PIN' Select '(Forgot/Create PIN) Green PIN'.
  1. Now, the following two options  will appear:
    1. 'Generate OTP'
    2.  'Validate OTP' Select 'Generate OTP'. A 6-digit OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  1. Reinsert and remove the Debit Card.
  1. Select your preferred language again.
  1. The same two options will appear:
    1. 'Enter PIN'
    2. '(Forgot/Create PIN) Green PIN' Select '(Forgot/Create PIN) Green PIN'.
  1. Two options will appear again:
    1. 'Generate OTP' 
    2. 'Validate OTP' Select 'Validate OTP' and enter the 6-digit OTP received on your mobile.
  1. Enter a new 4-digit PIN of your choice.
  1. Re-enter the new 4-digit PIN for confirmation.

The screen will display a message indicating that the PIN has been changed or created successfully.

Important Notes:

  1. The customer’s mobile number must be registered with the Bank to set/reset the Debit Card PIN at a Bank of India ATM.
  1. 'Green PIN' cannot be generated for hot-listed Bank of India debit cards.
  1. 'Green PIN' is supported for active, inactive, and temporarily blocked cards (due to 3 incorrect PIN attempts). Inactive/temporarily blocked cards will be activated after successful PIN generation.
  1. 'Green PIN' can only be generated at Bank of India ATMs.

1. Generate ATM PIN via SMS

Your account holders can change the Green PIN by sending an SMS from your registered phone number:

  1. Send an SMS using the registered phone number in the format: PIN 1234 5678.
  1. 1234 stands for the last four digits of your Bank of India ATM card.
  1. 5678 stands for the last four digits of your Bank of India account number.
  1. Once the SMS is sent, you will receive an OTP on your registered phone number. The OTP is valid for two days.
  1. Use this OTP to generate your debit card PIN by visiting the nearest Bank of India ATM.

2. Generate ATM PIN via Customer Care

You can also generate an ATM PIN by calling Bank of India's customer support:

  1. Call the Bank of India customer care number using your registered phone number.
  1. Select your preferred language and follow the instructions to choose the ATM and prepaid card services option.
  1. Select the option to generate a Green PIN.
  1. Enter your debit card number and confirm it.
  1. Enter the account number linked to your debit card and confirm it.
  1. After confirming all details, you will receive an OTP via SMS to your registered phone number. The OTP is valid for two days, and you can use it to generate your PIN at the nearest Bank of India ATM.

3. Generate ATM PIN Online Through Internet Banking

To generate the PIN through Bank of India Internet Banking, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your internet banking account with the necessary credentials.
  1. From the main menu, select the option for card PIN.
  1. Choose the option to generate a PIN and click on the debit card option.
  1. Select the debit card for which you want to set the PIN and enter your 16-digit card number along with the CVV.
  1. Enter the grid numbers printed at the back of the card and generate the OTP.
  1. Enter the four-digit OTP received on your registered phone number and submit it.
  1. Type your new PIN. You will receive confirmation of the PIN generation on your internet banking display, your registered phone number, and your registered email ID.

What to do if you forget your PIN

  1. Clients have multiple options to change their Bank of India ATM PIN. They can do so by visiting the nearest ATM, sending an SMS, calling customer care, or using internet banking.
