Vehicle Fitness Certificate

According to the Motor Vehicles Act, all vehicle owners must possess certain documents to ply on Indian roads. One such required document is a vehicle's Fitness Certificate (FC). Read on to find out more about a Fitness Certificate, its application process, the documents required, etc.

What is Vehicle Fitness Certificate?

A vehicle’s Fitness Certificate is a document issued by the government that certifies that a vehicle is fit to be driven on roads. Both commercial and private vehicles must have a Fitness Certificate as per the law. Every new vehicle is issued a Fitness Certificate that remains valid for a specified number of years.

Following that term, the Fitness Certificate must be renewed in order to adhere to The Motor Vehicles Act’s rules and regulations. The Regional Transport Office (RTO) conducts a thorough vehicle assessment as part of the renewal process.

Importance of Vehicle Fitness Certificate
