Get a Fancy Two-Wheeler Number in Tamil Nadu

The first two letters of a two-wheeler registration number represent the state in which the vehicle has been registered. For instance, TN for Tamil Nadu, KA for Karnataka, AP for Andhra Pradesh and so on. The next two numbers in the registration number is the code allotted to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) functioning under the state government. For example; Madurai - 58, Nagercoil - 74, Krishnagiri - 24, and so on. The next four digits is the registration number given to a particular two-wheeler by the respective RTO. This could begin from 0001 to 9999. Once all these numbers in the range are allotted, an alphabet is added to the number to use the same range of numbers again, and this continues.

How to Get a Fancy Number in Tamil Nadu?

There are about 100 vehicle numbers from the range of 0001 to 9999 that are reserved as special vehicle registration numbers by the state government. These numbers cannot be obtained by regular motor vehicle registration as they can be accessed only with the payment of special fee to the Government Home Department - Transport Section.

How to Apply for a Fancy Two Wheeler Number?

You can select a number from a list of 1000 numbers from the current registration series in Tamil Nadu. The process to pick a fancy two-wheeler number is mentioned below:

Step 1 -  Visit the official Parivahan Sewa website.

Step 2 - Select the ‘User online services’ option from the menu bar.

Step 3 -  Click on the ‘Available numbers report’ option.

Step 4 - Choose the state, RTO name, and the open series name.

Step 5 - You will be able to see every number in the selected series that is available between 0001 and 9999.

Step 6 - Contact the RTO to find out the registration number for the day, then choose a few numbers.

Step 7 - Carry the Disclaimer form, a copy of the purchaser's ID, the GST certificate (if the item was purchased on the company's behalf), and a duly signed requisition letter to the RTO.

Step 8 - The RTO might ask for a registration number allotment form. However, in most instances, the requisition letter suffices because it contains all the information that must be included in the form.

Step 9 - Submit the documents to the RTO Superintendent. Once the Superintendent has confirmed the number's availability, the documents will be given to another officer to enter the information.

Step 10 - You will receive an email with the login information.

Step 11 - Log in to the Parivahan Sewa website with these credentials.

Step 12 - Choose ‘Pay online’ to finish the payment process.

Step 13 - There are no extra fees if you pay with a RuPay debit card, UPI, or net banking. Payment made by credit card incurs an additional fee.

Step 14 - Upon completion of the payment, the registration number will be mapped to your vehicle.

Step 15 - You must take your vehicle for inspection and registration within the next 30 days. The RTO will assign the mapped number to your vehicle.
