If only one connection is left after having surrendered other connections, an option exists to convert the registration to a DBC or Double Bottle Connection. The order to surrender the LPG connections even extends to PNG connections and reticulated LPG connections - meaning that oil companies will not supply to any customer who has both of these active at the same time.

Oil companies have shared KYC data between themselves to ensure that no one has more than one active connection at any given time.

Procedure to Surrender Your LPG Gas Connection Online

If going to the oil company that issues your gas connection and surrendering it manually is too much work and too much of time wasted on your part, you can now surrender the same online.

1. Simply log on to your particular LPG connection supplier's website.
2. Enter your details in the relevant place and it will then be the supplier's responsibility to come collect the LPG cylinder from your residential address.

Discontinuation of LPG services extends to persons with different names but at the same address, and the issue of husbands and wives who register for one connection each and as a result have two cylinders at their residence. Voluntary surrender of LPG connections have been reported from all over the country and some 10.2 lakh connections have so far been blocked and redistributed by Indian Oil Company alone.

Procedure to Surrender Bharat Gas LPG Connection

There are a few common reasons why people want to surrender their LPG connections, and each reason has a different process that must be followed. A few of the common reasons and procedures are given below:

In Case of Changing Residence within the Same City

1. If you have an LPG connection registered at a particular address in a particular city, and wish to change your residence to another location within the same city, you must approach the Bharatgas distributor and request a Transfer Advice (called TA).
2. This TA is to then be taken to the new distributor that covers homes your new location and submitted there.
3. The new distributor will then issue a Subscription Voucher (called SV) which will contain a brand new consumer number for that distributorship.
4. You will not have to surrender your pressure regulator or gas cylinder at this time, as it is within the same city.

IIn Case of Changing Residence to a Different City

Moving to a different city can be difficult and not having an LPG connection in your new home can be worse.

1. If you are moving cities, you must entirely surrender your existing LPG connection and return the pressure regulator and gas cylinder to the distributor.
2. The distributor will give you a Termination Voucher (called TV) and will also refund the initial security deposit you had paid at the time of obtaining the connection.
3. After this is done and you have moved to your new city, you will have to approach the Bharatgas distributor in your area and submit the TV along with the security deposit and registration/documentation fees.
4. After this is done, the new distributor will issue a new Subscription Voucher, a new cylinder, and a new pressure regulator.

In Case of Total Surrender of LPG Connection

1. In order to completely surrender the Bharat Gas LPG connection and get the refund of the deposit amount, you must log on to http://www.ebharatgas.com/bharatgas/Surrender.faces?siteid=ebharat and login using your credentials.
2. A request will be submitted to Bharatgas, and you must then surrender your cylinder and pressure regulator in order to get the refund.

How to Surrender Indane Gas Connection

The procedure to surrender any Indane LPG connection is very simple and is given below:

1. In order to join the movement to voluntarily surrender your subsidized LPG connection, log on to https://indane.co.in/optout_inf.php.
2. Fill out the relevant details and information. The page also has links to the "Scroll of Honour" which contains the names of all those who have voluntarily taken part in this scheme to enable the weaker sections of the economy to benefit from LPG gas connections.
3. You can log into your Indane account on the Indane website here https://indane.co.in/invalidlog.php and view their entire range of services.
4. If you have a connection that you wish to surrender for whatever reason, log on to the Indane gas website's LPG surrender connection portal at https://indane.co.in/surrender_info.php. After you login using your credentials, you will be guided through the process for surrendering your Indane LPG connection and the documents required.

Procedure to Surrender HP Gas Connection

There are many reasons why you might want to surrender your LPG connection from HPGAS, the procedure to surrender HP GAS LPG connections are given below:

In Case of Changing Residence within the Same City

1. If you have an LPG connection registered at a particular address in a particular city, and wish to change your residence to another location within the same city, you must approach the HPGAS distributor and request e-Customer Transfer Advice (called an e-CTA).
2. An Authorization Code will be assigned to your particular request when you produce your original Subscription Voucher.
3. It should be noted that there is an expiry on the e-CTA, as it only remains valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issue.
4. After you've received your e-CTA and have your SV in hand, the SV and e-CTA must be given to the new distributor that services the area in which your new residence is located.
5. The new distributor will enrol you has a consumer, endorse your SV, and return it to you. Your cylinder and pressure regulator must be shifted and not surrendered at this time.

In Case of Changing Residence to a Different City

1. When relocating to a different city, you must entirely surrender your existing LPG connection and return the pressure regulator and gas cylinder to the distributor.
2. The distributor will give you a Termination Voucher (called TV) and will also refund the initial security deposit you had paid at the time of obtaining the connection.
3. After this is done and you have moved to your new city, you will have to approach the HPGAS distributor in your area and submit the TV along with the security deposit and registration/documentation fees.
4. It should be noted that the TV has a validity of only one year from the date of issue, and new connections must be taken within this time to avoid having to register as a new customer all over again.
5. After this is done, the new distributor will issue a new Subscription Voucher, a new cylinder, and a new pressure regulator. The Domestic Gas Consumer Card need not be submitted at this time.

Surrendering your excess LPG cylinders is a move to help the entire country and those that need it most - the people below the poverty line living in rural and under-developed areas. In order to cook, inhabitants of these areas use cow dung cakes, crop-waste, newspaper, hay, or other unsafe and unhealthy methods. Surrendering your extra connection means that someone who needs it will have access to it, as the distributors and oil companies are already overloaded with orders and there is a limited quantity of resources for everyone to share.
