Timings for Trading Non-Agricultural Commodities on the MCX Holiday

Non-agricultural commodities can be traded between 10:00 am and 11:30 pm during summer and 11:55 am during winter.

MCX stands for the Multi-commodity Exchange of India Limited. Being the first registered exchange in India, MCX provides a comprehensive platform for online trading, risk control, settlement and clearing of commodity derivative trades.

Multi-Commodity Exchange, abbreviated as MCX, functions five days a week (Monday-Friday). Like BSE and NSE, even MCX does not remain open on all Saturdays. While morning sessions are held between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, evening sessions occur between 5:00 pm to 11:55 pm. The exchange revises its evening trading session twice a year in sync with the US daylight savings time. During summer, evening session closes at 11:30 pm and during winter, it closes at 11:55 pm.

MCX has announced the list of MCX trading holidays in 2025. The list includes certain regional public holidays and national holidays. Both morning and evening sessions remain closed on national holidays. As MCX is based in Mumbai, India, Maharashtra Day is an MCX holiday.

The products offered by MCX are of four types: bullion, base metals, energy and agricultural commodities. The product category of bullion consist silver, gold, silver mini, silver 1000, gold mini, gold metal, gold guinea, etc. Zinc, nickel, aluminum, brass, lead, nickel mini, zinc mini and nickel mini are included under the category of base metals. MCX's energy section encompasses natural gas, unrefined oil and crude oil mini. The agricultural commodities offered by the exchange include mentha oil, cotton, black pepper, cardamom and crude-palm oil.

India’s stock exchanges have announced a total of 14 holidays in 2025.
