Brief Description of June Holidays

  1. Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti: The festival commemorates the birthday of Sant Kabir, a mystic poet and saint. The day is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month Jyeshtha.
  2. YMA Day: The holiday marks the establishment of the Young Mizo Association (YMA). It is the largest non-profit, secular, and non-governmental organisation of the Mizo people. On the occasion, various social activities like planting of saplings, cleaning villages, constructing houses for the poor, etc. are carried out in the state of Mizoram.
  3. Raja Sankranti: The day is observed on the first day of the month of Asara. It welcomes the agricultural year in the state. All agricultural operations are stopped for a period of three days due to the festival.
  4. Muharram: Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is an important and holy month for Muslims. The 10th day of Muharram is known as Ashura on which Muslims remember the death of Imam Hussain who is the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. People pray, fast, and think about his sacrifice and bravery. 
  5. Remna Ni: Remna Ni commemorates the signing of the historic peace accord between Mizo National Front and the central government. The signing of the accord brought an end to the 20-year insurgency in the state.

June 2025 Bank Holidays Across States

Banks in various parts of India will observe holidays in June 2025 due to regional festivals and religious observances. On 6 June and 7 June 2025 (Friday and Saturday), banks will be closed in several states for Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid) and Bakri Id (Id-Uz-Zuha). Himachal Pradesh will observe a bank holiday on 11 June for Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti, while banks in Sikkim will also be closed due to Saga Dawa. In Mizoram, banks will be closed on 30 June (Monday) in observance of Remna Ni.
