  1. Obtain No-Objection Certificate: Obtain the NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the RTO where your vehicle was originally registered and ensure that the chassis number is clearly printed on it.
  1. Take the Vehicle to Another State: Once you obtain the NOC, you can transfer your vehicle to another state where you are shifting to.
  1. Visit the State RTO: Visit the RTO of the state where will be residing along with all the required documents
  1. Submit all the documents: Check and submit the documents to the RTO
  1. Fill Road-Tax Challan: Make the payment of requisite fees as per the challan for road-tax issued by the government authority of the state where you have moved to.
  1. Vehicle Verification: The vehicle will be inspected, and the chassis number will be taken by the RTO officer.
  1. Collect the Registration Certificate: Confirm the date when you can collect the registration certificate of your vehicle after the verification has been completed.

Types of Vehicle Registration Transfers – Within and Across Cities

  1. In case Someone Else Purchases the Vehicle

o   The ownership transfer has to be done by submitting Form 32, if vehicle purchased at an auction sponsored by Central or State Government

o   Form 32 need to be submitted within 30 days of vehicle purchase

o   As per Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, applicable charges need to be paid as levied by registering authority

To Receive NOC from RTO

  1. CMV Form 28
  2. Chassis imprint
  3. Existing PUC, tax documents, insurance policy, and registration certificate
