How to Apply for a Passport at a Passport Seva Camp in India

Beginning on 18 October 2016, a nationwide Passport Seva Camp is being set up to offer services to individuals who are located far from Passport Seva Kendras. This measure aimed at increasing citizen convenience was approved by External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj.

The Ministry of External Affairs plans to hold such Camps across the country periodically. The process of application acceptance at these Passport Seva Camps is similar to those at Passport Seva Kendras. Officials will be available at all Camps to ensure that the entire process is smooth and without any hassles.

Passport Seva Camp Requirements

The list of requirements for a Passport Seva Camp is mentioned below as follows: 

  1. Only applications for normal passports will be accepted during the Passport Seva Camps; no tatkaal applications will be accepted. 
  2. Service at the Passport Seva Camps venue will be on an appointment basis only; walk-ins will not be entertained. 
  3. Appointments for the Passport Seva Camps will be released on a first-come-first-served basis at 16:30 hours on the Monday prior to the Camp days (Saturday & Sunday). 
  4. To participate in the Passport Seva Camp, applicants must visit the official website https://www.passportindia.gov.in/, fill out the online form for a normal passport, generate an Application Reference Number (ARN), pay the suitable fee, and schedule an appointment for the needed Passport Seva Camp dates. 
  1. Applicants attending the Passport Seva Camp should bring a printout of the ARN sheet with the relevant details, along with the original required documents and one set of self-attested photocopies of all documents. 
  2. Two passport-size photographs with a white background are also required. 
  3. The Passport Seva Camp will commence at 09:00 hours. The applicants are requested to arrive at the Passport Seva Camp venue 15 minutes before their appointment time to avoid any last-minute confusion. 

Documents Required to Apply for Passport through Passport Seva Camp

When applying for a passport through a Passport Seva Camp, you will need to have the following documents: 

  1. Online Application Reference Number (ARN) receipt printed from the Passport Seva Portal (website). 
  2. SBI payment receipt, if applicable. 
  3. Originals of the required supporting documents, along with self-attested (signed) photocopies. 
  4. Two coloured recent passport-size photographs (4.5 cm length x 3.5 cm width) with a white background. 
  5. For the Re-issue of the Passport, the old or existing passport booklet should be brought; the Verification Officer at the Passport Seva Camp will cancel the old passport booklet and return it to the applicant after accepting the application.

  • What is a Passport Seva Camp?

    Passport Seva Camps are temporary Passport Seva Kendras that are set up in areas that are situated far from regular Passport Seva Kendras, such as University Campuses and identified towns and cities. Applicants who reside in notified areas can visit these Camps to submit their passport applications. Each of these Camps will have Verification Officers, Citizen Service Executives, Granting Officers, and consoles with facility for internet and other devices needed for data entry processing, such as printer, camera, scanner and a device for capturing fingerprints. 

  • What is the category of applications that can be submitted at Passport Seva Camps?

    Applications for the re-issue of passports (other than damaged or lost) and fresh passports under normal scheme and not tatkaal, can be submitted at these Camps. 

  • Will applicants have to submit a passport application form online via the Passport Seva Kendra portal prior to visiting a Passport Seva Camp?

    Yes, applicants will have to submit the application form online and get their form printed along with the Application Reference Number receipt. This must be taken by the individual when they visit a camp for submission of passport application.

  • Can applicants avail of the passports through Tatkaal scheme through the Passport Seva Camps?

    No, applicants cannot avail of the passports through the Tatkaal scheme at the Passport Seva Camps.

  • Can individuals apply for a Police Clearance Certificate through the Passport seva Camps?

    No, Police Clearance Certificates are not accepted at Passport Seva Camps.
