Passport Offices (PO) have the power to grant passports, revoke them, and seize them, in addition to having control over the PSK(s) that fall under them. They take care of all administrative tasks needed to process passport applications. The POs are in charge of printing, laminating, dispatching passports, maintaining contact with MEA Headquarters, state/UT administration, and police, reviewing PVRs, and handling establishment issues, legal matters, RTI cases, and financial issues.
Following the implementation of the new system, all applicants must physically show up at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) after submitting their online applications, along with the application print receipt and original documents.
Yes, you can call the following number 1800-258-1800 to find the Passport Seva Kendra/Post Office Passport Seva Kendra closest to you. Locating your nearby Passport Seva Kendra is also possible by going to the website www.passportindia.gov.in.
Only in cases of true emergencies may an applicant pick up their passport in person from the relevant RPO. In this situation, the applicant must submit an application that details why the situation is so urgent. After further review and consideration, the Regional Passport Officer will decide.
In general, every state has one RPO, whereas there can be multiple PSKs under each RPO. The RPO cannot be changed; it is determined based on the current address that you have entered. You must visit the PSK (passport service centre) with all of your documentation for biometric and other verification purposes.
To continue processing, the file has been escalated to RPO. An investigation by the police has officially started. Once the police verification is complete, you can get in touch with RPO Madurai.
